La Géorgie du Sud est couverte par la licence radio Falkland Island (VP8 *). There are two research stations on the island, one on Bird Island and the other one is King Edward Point (KEP). Il ya deux stations de recherche sur l'île, l'une sur l'île Bird et de l'autre est King Edward Point (KEP). Nowadays only KEP has a HF station left, which is mainly used to get in contact with the fishing vessels around the island. Aujourd'hui seulement KEP a une station HF gauche, qui est principalement utilisée pour entrer en contact avec les bateaux de pêche autour de l'île. Sometimes you can hear this station on the amateur radio bands, esp. Parfois, vous pouvez écouter cette station sur les bandes radio amateur, esp. when GM0HCQ is in port.... GM0HCQ lorsqu'il est au port ....
One DXpedition visited the island in 2002 (VP8GEO) and operated from Husvik. Un DXpedition visité l'île en 2002 (VP8GEO) et exploité à partir de Husvik. Before that, South Georgia ranked between #20 and #10 on the DXCC Most Wanted lists. Avant cela, la Géorgie du Sud entre classé # 20 et # 10 sur la liste DXCC Most Wanted. Today, VP8/G lies at about # 40-50. Aujourd'hui, VP8 / G se trouve à environ # 40-50.
